Maccabi Zafon Tel Aviv Tennis Club, or “Maccabi Zafon” as we are called by all, is a members’ club, characterized by a very friendly and sportsmanlike atmosphere. The club operates under Articles of Incorporation which are registered with the Registrar of Not-For-Profit Associations (“Amutot”). There is a code of procedure to ensure orderly management of the club, and codes of discipline and fair behavior by which the members are bound to ensure the sportsmanlike and congenial atmosphere of the club.
"In Basel We Founded Maccabi Zafon"
The club was founded in 1939 near the Basel Market in Tel Aviv by a group of
It all started with 3 sand courts, a small hut of 8 square metres which served as a dressing corner, storage cupboard for tennis racquets and shower, and a small bench for 8 tennis players. From these humble beginnings, true friendships were created that lasted a lifetime …
Today one can find big names in Israeli tennis in our club, among them many former Davis Cup and Fed Cup players. 28 members of the club participated as part of the Israeli team in the recent 19th Maccabiah Games and they won 35 medals, 14 of which were gold.
The Club Board, The Founders
Maccabi Zafon is managed by a committee of 14 members who meet monthly. The committee appoints several sub-committees (e.g. league, culture, sponsors and finance). Seven of the committee members are elected by the General Assembly that is held every two years and the other seven members are chosen by the Founders from amongst themselves.
The Founders (one of three kinds of members: Founders, Active Members, Friends) are either members who have been associated with the club from its inception, or have donated to the club in several ways. Their number cannot succeed 24.
Thanks to our partners, the club can be upgraded and developed for the good of the game of tennis and for the welfare of the members. We believe that co-operation between our leading, successful club with its long tradition in tennis and companies that are successful in their field of business benefits both parties.
Our club offers potential partners versatile "packages of sponsorship" which give several options of advertising and promotional support for them.
The club operates a number of tennis events and activities throughout the year:
Masters and ITF Championships of the Israel Tennis Association in Pesach and Succot in which 500-600 participants compete (the biggest tournaments in the country), National League and Cup Team matches including the Final Four.
Apart from the high standard of the tennis events themselves, our club is no less appreciated for the high level of organization and the "Wimbledon" like atmosphere of these tournaments, alongside the well-planned and run events that take place at the same time, mainly the closing and prize-giving ceremonies on the day of the finals.
The Club Championships take place once a year during December-January, where there is an especially enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.
The Courts, the Facilities
The club members enjoy 12 well kept and maintained hard courts, high quality lights for night tennis, ample parking, a gym, a jaccuzi, one big and one small balcony, newly renovated dressing rooms, office and meeting room, a tennis shop, a coffee shop and restaurant, an order-of-play board manned by experienced personnel, a large notice board, a big HD television screen, audio equipment for lectures and events and more.
